Explanation:
The Eastern Coastal Plains is a wide stretch of landmass of India, lying between the Eastern Ghats and the Bay of Bengal. It is wider and leveled than the Western Coastal Plains and stretches from Tamil Nadu in the south to West Bengal in the north through Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.[1] Chilka Lake is a brackish water lake along the eastern coastal plain. It lies in the state of Odisha and stretches to the south of the Mahanadi Delta.[2]
Eastern coastal plains are wide because the large rivers make wide deltas on the Eastern Coastal Plains. But the western side rivers do not make any deltas on the West Coast. The Western Coastal Plain is formed by coarse grained soil. It is infertile and agriculturally not prosperous except in the Malabar Coast.
The differences between Eastern and Western Coastal Plains are:
The Eastern Coastal plain lies along the east coast of India and is washed by the Bay of Bengal whereas the Western Coastal Plain lies along the west coast of India and is washed by The Arabian Sea.
