Today, people talk, without feeling, about an animal becoming endangered, or in their greedy nature to get ahead, they may take unnecessary measures in their jobs and/or daily activities that harm the wildlife around them. Why do they not value more the precious creation that shares this earth with them? If society truly valued wildlife, they would demonstrate it by protecting it. Most of the problems needing to be solved were not the result of a hatred for animals but a result of careless attitudes and accidents. The real problem comes when people don't care enough to fix their mistakes. No matter what the cause, individuals need to take responsibility for their actions instead of letting helpless creatures suffer because of them. The problems concerning wildlife conservation have been going on for ages, but one should know about some of the current topics, the things that they can do to help, and the steps that some organizations are already taking.
First, people must see that this is actually a relevant problem in their world because they have to understand the problem before they will come up with a solution. Most everyone heard about the BP oil spill back in 2010, and to many people this is old news and something they are certainly tired of hearing about. There are a group of unfortunate dolphins, however, that are still dealing with this crisis, and many are not doing well. One of them died just this January, but instead of getting behind the non-profit organization trying to rectify the
situation, "the current White House administration has proposed cutting all funding for the Marine Mammal Stranding Network".

Another hot issue in the environmentalist's world is the great environmental impact that the tar sands oil development has had in Canada recently. Ironically, the smaller part of the destruction has been caused directly by the operation that is destroying the habitat of caribou. It is not necessary at this time to argue whether or not this could be helped, but someone should argue their poor solution to the problem! They have decided "to kill the wolves that prey on caribou, instead of protecting their habitat". This is not an acceptable way to deal with this issue.

There are many places today where people can work to keep things like this from happening. This is not a lost cause, by any means. Take a look at the National Wildlife Federation's website. They have a page that talks about the endangered species act, and how different animals become listed as "endangered". The best part of this article is the list of several exciting success stories. These are animals that, after being listed as endangered, have been cared for enough to be saved. Can you imagine if the beautiful bald eagle that has become a symbol for our country had gone extinct? Luckily, many are working to protect animals, like the bald eagle, to prevent such a tragedy, and people must continue to do so.
