Answer

Given that,

Mass of body M=0.5kg

Potential energy P.E=100J

Force of gravity on 1 kg is 10 N

Now,

F=mg

10=1×g

g=10m/s 2

Now, change in Potential energy

=mg(h 2−h1 )

=mg(h−0)

=mgh

Now, the height is

100=mgh

h= 0.5×10

100

Given:

✰ Mass of body ( M ) = 0.5 kg

✰ Potential energy ( PE ) = 100 J

✰ Force of gravity on 1 kg is 10 N

To find:

✠ The height of the tower.

Solution:

As the value of force and mass is already given i.e., mass is 1 kg and force on 1 kg mass is 10 N,So we will find gravity by using formula ( F = mg ). Putting the values in the formula we can easily calculate gravity. Now, we know that change in potential energy is given by mgh then putting the values in the formula we can easily calculate the height of the tower.

F = mg

Put the values in,

➺ 10 = 1 × g

➺ g = 10/1

➺ g = 10 m/s²

➺ Change in potential energy = mg ( h₂ - h₁ )

➺ Change in potential energy = mg ( h - 0 )

☣ Change in potential energy = mgh

Put the values in the formula to calculate the height of the tower.

➺ 100 = 0.5 × 10 × h

➺ 100 = 5 × h

➺ h = 100/5

➺ h = 20 m

The height of the tower is 20 m
