its called the diagonal rule

3s 3p 3d
4s 4p 4d 4f
5s 5p 5d 5s
6s 6p 6d
7s
start from the top and go diagonally downward to the left. the order owuld be 1s, 2s, 2p, 3s, 3p 4s, 3d, 4p, 5s, 4d, 5p, 6s, 4f, 5d, 6p, 7s, 5s, 6d. you already know S can hold 2, P can hold 6, D can hold 10, and F can hold 14. hope this helped

I have a way to learn till 20
Firstly you have to learn all the elements till 20 according to atomic no.
Then see that in 1-20 all the electrons increase one by one in and they are 8 only in every energy level.
Now if they are 7 electrons so it want one more electron to satisfy itself so its valency will be -1.
Like this if any element have 3 electrons it will give three electrons as giving 3 electrons if easy then taking 5 electrons it's valency would be +3
And if any element have 4 it's valency can either be -4 or +4
It is hard to understand in typing but still see if u could understand
