Education is the only one tool through which the development of any society can be possible. Spreading education is one of the major goal of the five years plan in India because they believe that only through education human development, economic development etc and others can be possible. Education has also other roles in our society. Education can eradicate social evils , superstition and can make people aware of there development. Education at this instant is so important that it can be called as a part of our body. An well educated person is a great wealth of a nation . A nation can achieve its development only by spread of education. In every sphere of life of a man knowledge, intelligence, techniques are very important. For overall development of any region, state or a country education is necessary.

According to national education policy 1986 the government considered human being a positive test and a precious National which need to be cherished , nurtured and developed with tenderness and care ,coupled with dynamism . It , therefor planned that educational growth should be planned meticulously and executed with great sensitivity .

4=Increase in the plan outlay on education has increased from ₹151 crore in the first plant to ₹ 3766.90 crore in the eleventh plan.

5=Increase in expenditure on education as percentage of GDP rise from 0.64 %in 1951- 52 to 3.11% in 2011-12 .

=>The literacy rate have increased from 18% in 1951 to 74% in 2010 to 2011 .However the literacy among males is nearly 16.6% higher than females . Literacy rate vary from 93.9 in Kerala to 54% in Bihar .

=> Sarva Shiksha abhiyan is an important step towards providing elementary education to all children in the age group of 6 to 14 years .
