Education Under British
The British felt the need to educate the Indians to make sure that they can be employed and of some good use. So the pathshalas and the Indian system of education was removed and was placed with schools and colleges.
Lord Macaulay believed that Oriental Learning was completely inferior to European learning. He established schools. During that time the people of India decided to utilize schools.
In the end, Indian schools lost support and students and were forced to shut down.
Nowadays thanks to the British, we are able to access schools. And women education was taken up importance these days. After India's independence, English aas used for official purposes.
