Effect that traps the sun’s heat, and does not allow it to escape is called, greenhouse effect.
Greenhouse effect lets the UV rays easily pass into the setup through the associated glass walls and get absorbed by the plants, whereas IR rays being weaker fail to enter the setup.
The radiation that warms the earth surface is also because of this effect.

▶Effect that traps suns heat and not allowed to escape is called GREENHOUSE EFFECT.
_____________________________
✴Explain greenhouse effect.
✔Greenhouse effect may be defined as the process of steady increase in the temperature of the earth's atmosphere due to the presence of green house gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, chloroflorocarbons etc.
✔These green house gases forms a blanket around the earth which allow the sun rays (short wave radiation) to pass through it but restricts the passage of reflected heat rays (long wave radiation) from going out of the atmosphere.
✔This results in trapping the heat in the atmosphere leading to increase in temperature.
✔Greenhouse effect and global warming are interrelated.
✔Gases that cause the greenhouse effect are responsible for increasing the temperature of the Earth and thus contributing to the phenomenon called global warming .
