Global warming is a phenomenon which coincided with the start of the industrial revolution (1780s). The following are 4 effects of global warming:
1) Ozone layer depletion: holes have been found in the ozone layer which are extremely dangerous. Not only are we exposed to more UV rays, but we are also exposed to dangerous cosmic (rays coming from space) and radioactive rays. Please note that an area is considered depleted if more than 50% is depleted.
2) Global temperature are rising: Many areas in the world have felt a sudden increase in the average temperature. Although, there are some areas which are cooling down (e.g. Mid-north Atlantic Ocean). This is causing an increase in wildfires and some flora and fauna do not have time to evolve for this rapidly changing world.
3) Weather patterns are becoming more and more irregular: Areas which usually receive high annual rainfall are experiencing more rainfall and a higher risk of flooding while relatively dry areas are in more risk of drought.
4) Sea levels are rising: The average sea level is rising because of the melting of the ice caps in the poles. This is a chain effect from the rise of temperature. It is estimated that within the next 30 years, certain low-lying towns (e.g. Venice) will be completely submerged.
5 (extra point) ) Shifting of electricity-exploitation methods: We have been warned about the many harmful effects of global warming. Therefore, we are shifting to the usage of renewable energy resources such as wind and solar power and thus reducing coal and oil for our main sources of electricity.
Hope this was a good and detailed explanation! :P
