Efficiency of a cycle is defined as η = W Q η=WQ where W is work done and Q is heat input. W can be easily calculated by finding the area enclosed within the loop shown in the graph which is equal to ( P − P o ) V o (P−Po)Vo. Heat input occurs only in the processes, B->A ( Q 1 Q1) and B->C ( Q 2 Q2). Q 1 = n C v Δ T 1 Q1=nCvΔT1 where Δ T 1 = V o n R ( P o − P ) ΔT1=VonR(Po−P) ⇒ Q 1 = C v V o R ( P o − P ) ⇒Q1=CvVoR(Po−P) Q 2 = n C p Δ T 2 Q2=nCpΔT2 and Δ T 2 = P o V o n R ΔT2=PoVonR ⇒ Q 2 = C p P o V o R ⇒Q2=CpPoVoR η = W Q 1 + Q 2 = ( P o − P ) V o C v V o R ( P o − P ) + C p P o V o R η=WQ1+Q2=(Po−P)VoCvVoR(Po−P)+CpPoVoR I don't have C p Cp and C v Cv, how am I supposed to solve this?
