Cost of 8 oranges = Rs10.40
The ratio = 8:10.40
Let cost of x oranges = Rs16.90
The ratio = x:16.90
⇒8:10.4 = x:16.9
⇒10.4x = 8 × 16.9
⇒10.4x = 135.2
⇒ x = 135.2/10.4
∴ x = 13
Therefore 13 oranges costs Rs16.90
