Solution :-

Let the present age of madhav be x

Madhav's age after 18 years = x + 18

Seven times of Madhav's present age = 7(x) = 7x

Given that

Madhav's age after 18 years = Seven times of Madhav's present age

⇒ x + 18 = 7x

Transpose x to x to RHS

⇒ 18 = 7x - x

⇒ 18 = 6x

Transpose 6 to LHS

⇒ 18/6 = x

⇒ 3 = x

⇒ x = 3

Therefore Present age of Madhav is 3 years.

Verification :-

Let us check

x + 18 = 7x

Substitute x = 3 in the above equation

⇒ 3 + 18 = 7(3)

⇒ 21 = 21
