we know that,

• Average speed = (2 * S1 * S2) / (S1 + S2)
• S1 = first speed .
• S2 = second speed .

given that ,

• S1 = 60 km/h .

→ Average speed = (2 * 60 * 40) / (60 + 40) = (2 * 60 * 40) / 100 = 2 * 6 * 4 = 48 km/h (Option 1) (Ans.)
