Given :-

  • Car covers covers 45 kilometre at speed of 15 kilometre per hour.

  • It covers next 50 kilometre at speed of 25 kilometre per hour.

  • And covers last 25 kilometre at speed of 10 kilometre per hour .

To find :-

  • Average speed of the car.

Solution :-

\boxed{\sf{Average\:Speed= \frac{Total\: Distance}{Total\: time \: taken } }}\\

Firstly let's find total time taken in each case.

1st case :-

→ Distance covered by car = 45 kilometre

→ Speed of car = 15 kilometre per hour

\boxed{\sf{Time\:taken= \dfrac{Distance}{Speed} }}\\

\sf{ \frac{45}{15} = 3 \: hours}\\

To cover 45 kilometres the car took 3 hours .

2nd case :-

→ Distance covered by car = 50 kilometre

→ Speed of car = 25 kilometre per hour

\sf{ \frac{50}{25} = 2\: hours}\\

To cover 50 kilometre the car took 2 hours.

3rd case :-

→ Distance covered by car = 25 kilometre

→ Speed of car = 10 kilometre per hour

\sf{ \frac{25}{10} = 2.5 \: hours}\\

To cover 25 kilometre the car took 2.5 hours.

→ Now total distance covered by car = [45+50+25] kilometre

Total distance = 120 kilometres

→ Total time taken = [3+2+2.5]hours

Total time taken = 7.5 hours

\sf{Average\:speed = \dfrac{120}{7.5} = 16}\\

So average speed of the car is 16 kilometre per hour.
