The constitution of India states that after every five years elections for State Legislative Assemblies and Parliament should take place.These are the main steps to be kept in mind considering the election process in India.

Election process of India:

In India, five years once the election is conducted. The main aim of conducting an election is to choose members for Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha, and Legislative assembly.

In India, the process of election is as follows:

• The interested candidate who wants to take part in the election must first enroll himself/herself with the Electoral Commission.  

• Based upon their eligibility, the electoral commission may either accept or reject a candidate.

• The accepted candidate starts its campaign process with his/her party members.  

• The campaign process is stopped 24-48 hours before the election date.

•  On the "date of the election", citizens of country poll their vote in their respective polling booth.  

• After a span of time, the votes are counted and the winning party takes in-charge of the Country for the next 5 years.
