Its typically a process to use electric current and form a thing metal coating on an Electrode. Its done via reducing dissolved metal cations.

It is also used for electrical oxidation of anions in formation of AgCl ( Silver Chloride) on Silver wire to make Silver Chloride Electrodes. It used to change surface properties of objects

Like Abrasion, Corrosion, Aesthetic Qualities etc

Commonly used metals for electro plating include : Gold, Silver, Lead,Platinum, Copper, Zinc, Chromium, Nickel, etc

Intermediates that are commonly used in the process of electroplating varies. But the most popular ones are :

Chloral Hydrate for Nickel Plating

Sulfonamide

Acetyl Thiophine

Typically Intermediates are used in Electroplating as a brightener, corrosion prevention and leveling agents.

Hope this solves your query. In case, you need more intel feel free to ask me a question.
