Electrovalent or ionic compounds are made up of cation and anyone due to which they have a strong electrostatic force binding them and hence a high temperature is required to melt or boil the compound.

Covalent compounds have only molecules which are bound together by weak Vanderwaal's force and hence small amount of heat is enough to break the force of attraction.

Electrovalent compound is formed by total transfer of electrons, while covalent bond is formed by sharing electrons. So, electrovalent Bond is stronger than covalent. As a result electrovalent compound have high M.P and B.P.
