d) is the correct answer.

pratyay1699: D cannot be correct because there is no need for anther removal for unisexual flower as there will be no cross fertilization
pratyay1699: sorry self fertilization# I mean

Emasculation is the removal of anther before anthesis from a Bisexual flower in the bud stage , so the correct answer will be option 2 .

It is performed to prevent self fertilization and promote cross fertilization in plants with bisexual flowers.

WHY OTHER OPTIONS ARE NOT CORRECT ?

1) 1ST option is a wrong definition

3)After anthesis , if the anthers are removed then stigma might get contaminated from pollen of other plants

4) In male flower there is no need to perform anthesis as the flower is unisexual and either Geitonogamy or Xenogamy will happen but not autogamy .
