energy flow will be always from lower trophic levels to higher trophic levels i.e from smaller organisms to large organisms like carnivores..
There is loss of energy as we go higher the trophic level
the energy lost as heat from the living organisms of a food chain cannot be reused by plants in photosynthesis..
So energy flow will be unidirectional always .
