Here, I am assuming the atom to be Hydrogen atom (because you have not mentioned it). Atomic number (Z = 1).


Energy of an electron in nth orbit is given by the formula:

E = -13.6\frac{Z^{2}}{n^{2}} eV/atom


For 1st orbit, n = 1.

So, we have:


E = -13.6\frac{(1)^{2}}{(1)^{2}} = -13.6 eV atom^{-1}

= -2.18 x 10⁻¹⁸ Joule.
