False, the sun emits about 3.86 x 10^26 watts of energy but about 1.74 x 10^17 watts strikes the earth, therefore the energy stroked on earth in year will be 1.74 x 10^17 x 30 = 5.22 x 10^18 this calculation is for ideal condition i.e no clouds and 0 green house gases. In 2013 according to google web results around 18 x 10^12 watt per hour energy is consumed so in a year it will be 18 x 24 x 365 x 10^12 = 1.5768 x 10^17 = 2 X 10^18 watt(approximate) as use can see the difference between these two result is just multiple of 3 but if you consider the factor of increase in population and increase in energy consumption then this difference wont be a large value.hence my answer is false

Energy used by mankind for the entire year reaches the surface of earth from the sun in the course of one month. The given statement is false. It is because that the sun emmits so much of solar energy but only a fraction of it reaches the surface of the earth only in ideal conditions that means there is no blockage of radiation by the clouds. According to the estimate, the amount of energy consumed is equal to three times the energy from the sun per month. Hence it is a false statements. Hope this answers helps you.
