1.the mayor,old postmaster,mr hauser were the people sitting at the back bench.they were sitting as a mark of respect towards the french teachers long faithful years of service.they regretted not going to school any more.

2.those words were said by mr M Hamel, young franz was schocked at the news that this.was going to be his last lesson on french.he felt sad for the teacher. He was that he would know no more about french and participles.

3.parents blamed for -they sent their children to fram and mill to earn a little more money,than focusssing on their studies.

M hamel blamed himself for- going on fishing on school days,sending franz to water the plants instead of teaching them.
