It was the day an interschool English essay writing competition was announced in my school. I was very thrilled and enrolled my name for the event. However, just a couple of days before the competition, I was told that my name was not in the list. I was shattered badly as I was confident of winning. Moreover, it was to be the final competition in my school days as I was in the final year of school. I felt that all the effort I had taken to prepare essays on the topics assigned had gone a waste. I was all the more upset when I heard the final topic assigned was the topic I liked the most.
My father consoled me and encouraged me to write about my experiences to the Chldren’s supplement of a leading English newspaper. I did so although I had no hope of my article getting published. Just as I expected, for the next couple of months, there was no sign of the article getting published. Then, suddenly, in the third month, I was casually glancing through the paper when I found my article published. My joy knew no bounds as it was the first time I am getting an article published. It helped me realize that I had a flair for writing and that it was something that I should build upon and improvise myself. I also made it a point that I would not give up this passion.
If I had participated in the competition, I would not have been able to publish an article in a newspaper. It would also not have helped me to pursue something that I am good at. Life sometimes, offers you disguised opportunities. You have to make the most of it..!
