Dear Danish,

◆ Vertebral column -

Vertebral column or the backbone as we call it constitutes of five types of vertebrae -

1. Cervical vertebrae

These are 7 vertebrae numbered from C1-C7.

2. Thoracic vertebrae

These are 12 vertebrae numbered from T1-T12.

3. Lumbar vertebrae

These are 5 vertebrae numbered from L1-L5.

4. Sacral vertebrae

These are 5 vertebrae numbered from S1-S5.

5. Coccygeal vertebrae

These are usually 4 (maybe 3/5) vertebrae numbered from Co1-Co4.
