Here are some of the reason people move into towns or cities in large numbers and soon urbanize and overpopulate it:
1) Search for better jobs as their is the promise of high paying jobs in the cities than in the rural areas.
2)Search for better living conditions caused by the fact that the investment in infrastructure and housing is emphasized more in these regions.
3) Better medical services and other basic services like schools
4)Urbanization as a result of lower land rates and cheaper housing in the regions surrounding the highly populated cities.
