Is pollution of the environment  the salient feature of the world or not the salient feature ?

    Salient feature means very important, notable and characteristic feature. Let us say that environmental pollution is not so noticeable feature.  Then there are more important features of the world. Surely there are more notable and good features of the world.

   There are many beautiful landscapes, valleys, lakes and mountain peaks in the world. There are polar ice caps, snow covered peaks, lovely water streams, flower gardens, thick forests and noisy water falls.

   When we look at the environment, the pollution does not immediately come to our minds. However, when we are faced with a lot of smoke, dust and exhaust gases from vehicles, then we feel strongly that environmental pollution is the salient feature of the world.  

   However, pollution is the harmful side effect of the human practices. It is not the main feature that comes to our mind.

   Salient features of the world include the wonderful evolution of Earth, continents, lakes, valleys and various geographical features. The appropriate natural placement of various things that exist in the world is a salient feature. The great environmental and ecological recycling, balancing and flow is the salient feature.
