Hey friend,
Here is the answer you were looking for:
 \frac{17(2 - x) - 5(x + 12)}{1 - 7x} = 8 \\ \\ \frac{17 \times 2 - 17 \times x - 5 \times x + 5 \times 12}{1 - 7x} = \frac{8}{1} \\ \\ \frac{34 - 17x - 5x - 60}{1 - 7x} = \frac{8}{1} \\ \\ on \: cross \: multiplying \: we \: get \\ \\ -26 - 22x = 8(1 - 7x) \\ \\ -26 - 22x = 8 \times 1 - 8 \times 7x \\ \\-26 - 22x = 8 - 56x \\ \\ -26 - 8 = - 56x + 22x \\ \\ -34 = - 34x \\ \\ x = \frac{-34}{ - 34 } \\ \\ x = 1 \\ \\ x = 1

Hope this helps!!!!!
