Answer:

he equatorial region is sparsely populated due to many reasons such as :-

Great temperature difference b/w day and night. Night of equatorial region called winter night due to low temperature and day is extreme hot due to direct insolation of Sun.

Due to regular rainfall , vegetation of this region is very dense and grow rapid which obstruct development of paths , roads further lead to lack of transportation , lack of connectivity with market etc.

The soil will become infertile if vegitation removed for agriculture due to leaching by water/rainfall.

Presence of types of raptiles , insects , worms , animals like baboons, gorilla etc in high numbers which further lead to types of diseases.

Necessities of HUMAN ( food , shelter, connectivity ) are not meet in this region which keep equatorial region sparsely populated.
