When living organisms die and decay, their body structure divides itself in smaller molecules. Depending on where the body started decaying, the molecules join the bio-geo-chemical cycle. The elements that transported in the cycle are categorized as:

# Macro Elements
# Micro Elements

The bio-geo-chemical cycle serves a lot purpose:

# It enables the transformation of matter from one form to another.
# It enables the transfer of matter from one locality to another.
# It facilitates the storage of elements.
# It regulates the flow of substances.

Now the cycle at every stage needs to maintain balance among the stages. This balance is termed as equilibrium. So we can say that equilibrium is necessary in various bio-geo-chemical cycle.

Explanation:

i. Human activities on the large scale such as clearing forest or cutting of trees on large scale (deforestation), burning of fossil fuels, more use of chemical fertilizers, and pesticides.

ii. These activities disturb the biogeochemical processes, directly or indirectly.

iii. Some steps should be taken to maintain the biogeochemical equilibrium in the ecosystem such as:

1. Plant more and more trees to maintain oxygen and carbon dioxide balance in nature.

2. Least use of chlorofluorocarbons.

3. Reduce vehicular pollution.
