formula for increase% = (increment/orginal value) × 100

so, increment in Sumit's height is (154.5 - 150) = 4.5 cm

putting values in the formula we get -

( 4.5/150) × 100% = 3% increase

Given,

Height of Sumit in the last year = 150 cm

Sumit's present height = 154.5 cm

To find,

The percentage increase in Sumit's height.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem using the following process:

Mathematically,

Percentage increase

= (total increase)/(initial value)×100

{Statement-1}

Now, according to the question;

The total increase in Sumit's height

= (Sumit's present height) - (height of Sumit in the last year)

= 154.5 cm - 150 cm

= 4.5 cm

So, the percentage increase in Sumit's height

= (total increase)/(initial value)×100

= (total increase in Sumit's height)/(height of Sumit in the last year)×100

{according to statement-1}

= (4.5 cm)/(150 cm)×100

= (4.5/150)×100

= 3%

Hence, the percentage increase in Sumit's height is equal to 3%.
