MOBILE PHONES- Boon or Bane

by Team FUCCHA

Have you ever thought what knife is – an instrument used in the kitchen or a weapon ? Similar is the case with technology that is mobile phones. It all depends on the way it is used. Nobody can deny the fact that science has made a tremendous progress in the twentieth century. Recent advancements in technology have made our lives easier. Since the dawn of human civilisation man has been dedicated to inventing and creating things. Mobile phone is one such, portable electronic device. These have completely changed the concept of telephoning and are now inexpensive, easy to use, comfortable and equipped with almost every latest feature we desire such as camera, calculator, internet, banking services, games and many more. Mobile phones can be now seen as the most used present day phenomenon. No doubt, that the cell phones have not only assisted us in emergencies but also improved the livelihood by providing employment and facilitating services but there are always two sides of a coin. The same will go true for the phone technologies.

The technology is effective as well as disadvantageous. The finest disadvantage is that the technology have impacted the natural method of human interaction badly. Also cell phones have made terrorist attacks in the world very easy. This has become a global matter of concern. Instead of viewing things aerially, let us just focus on our lives. Mobile phones have severe health implications too. Radiations transmitted by these devices have proved harmful to lives. Mobile phone addiction is another major disadvantage. Sneak a look around and you will be forced to think as if people were married to mobile phones, sounds funny but true.

Teenagers are engaged on their mobile phones all the time, no matter on phone calls, using SMS text messages, personalizing the mobile phones with ringtones and pictures etc. which often results in loss of concentration and brings distractions of all kinds. Despite of its harmful effects, students use mobile phones in the classrooms through which they fail to concentrate on the class and spend time in texting or surfing etc. This has become a vital threat to the students career and to the system education. Late night chats with friends and telling lies to parents might also result in terrible decline of moral values . Young people are not realizing the effect and impact it has on the future of the individuals as well as the society. I feel at times that we ourselves are paving the way for our youth towards the devastation and shoving them into fire. It is the duty and responsibility of every right minded citizen to educate and inculcate our youth, especially college students towards the proper use of mobile phones and also the need to capacitate them for a bright and prosperous future. The future of our nation is in the hands of the young generation that needs proper discipline, guidelines, rules and regulations. Let us all lead them in a proper and healthy way forward.

\textbf{\large{Answer -}}

\textbf{\underline{Mobile\:-\:Boon\:or\:Bane}}

Let's start with the topic. First of all what is a mobile ? Umm everyone familiar with it. Mobile is a device which is nowadays used for performing many functions. For example, we can use mobile for communication over large distances, send text messages, play games, find friends online etc.

But what if we are everytime indulged in using phone. Not a good thing to always stick on our phone. Nowadays we find students storing answer in mobile while exams, people using phone while driving which can be dangerous for our life.

Also, mobile has brought our life to an ease like if we are struck in traffic we can call anyone for our help. Or in any case of emergency, we can inform the person who is sitting miles away.

Use of technology is good, but it should be done in an efficient way. So it would be neither a boon nor bane.
