TIGER – THE NATIONAL ANIMAL OF INDIA :

• India is country that is filled with lot of wealth and prosperity.  As a symbol of our national wealth, Tigers were declared the national animal of India in the place of Lion (in the year 1972). All we can see in a tiger is its grace, strength, power and agility. The animal is incomparable in terms of its elegance and is called the Lord of Jungles and is also considered as a royal animal. Tigers are the majestic animals that are present in more numbers in our country.  

• According to the census, Almost half the population of tigers in the world live in our country.  The remaining are found in Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, China and Myanmar that comes close to 4000 to 5000 tigers. There are 8 races of tiger out of which the Bengal Tigers (Panthera Tigris) are the most common ones.

• But the fact is that the rare species is about to endanger in a slow pace. The declining population of the country all over the world is a fact that needs to be rectified by human kind. Government of India launched Project Tiger to protect the great tiger species from extinction. The project launched has opened many tiger reserved all over the country.
