During the freedom struggle, Gandhi persuaded so many people in the country to follow him, and fight for freedom through nonviolence. Even today, he is one of the most influential political leaders of all time. He encouraged young people to sweep away prejudices and gave them new values for living. He stressed the importance of Truth and Non-violence and called the youth to “Be Fearless”. Gandhi is one person who realized the power and potentiality of youth, understanding the dynamics of social change.

Many of Gandhi’s teachings are relevant to modern youth. He understood the feeling and sympathy of youth and called them as instruments of social change. He believed that only spiritual and ethical values can bring in changes to the social order. He wanted modern youth and students to become the means to form idealistic thoughts. He encouraged young minds about self-reliance as a crucial necessity to success. He was open-minded and wanted all the young people to be the same. He insisted on being tolerant of all religions, which is an important message to today’s generation.
