India is famous all over the world for her ancient temples and historical buildings.

The Taj at Agra is the most famous historical building in India. It is known all over the world as a dream in marble. It was built by Shah J ah an. the famous Mughal emperor, in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It was built about three centuries ago. More than twenty thousand masons and workers built it in about twenty two years. After the completion of the monument, as the story goes, their hands were chopped off, so that they could not build the pair of the Taj.

During the last three centuries, the glory of the Taj has not dimmed the least. It still commands the first position among the buildings of the world. It stands outside the city of Agra on the banks of river, Yamuna. In order to reach the main building, one has to pass through a huge gateway of red stones. There are symmetrical cypress trees surrounding the building.

The Taj is immortal. It may be called beauty concretized in pure white marble and as such a joy forever. But, unfortunately in the present materialistic world, even the beauty of the Taj is at stake because of the effluent sculpture dioxide emitted by the Matura refinery. Let us hope the able scientists will do something about it.

Answer:

VISIT TO MURSHIDABAD

India is rich with culture and heritage aging back to the pre British era. We have so many historical places in India. Agra, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Shimla are merely few examples of historical important place.

I went to Murshidabad, West Bengal during Puja vacation with my parents. We went on a road trip from Kolkata. Murshidabad is a small town but it is extremely important in the pages of history. We reached there by noon and were tired . The following day we visited the Motijheel Park and Khosh bagh. Not only that we saw the grave of Mir Zafar and re-learnt the story of the great betrayal of the Nawab Siraj- ud- Daulah by his own minister Mir Zafar. Finally we saw the famous Hajar Duyari Palace museum (thousand doors) in the town of Murshidabad. It was elegant and the palace was huge. The palace literally has thousands doors and an adjoining masjid. We witnessed a magnificent sunset and observed that the sun sets behind the beautiful palace.

The town is still under developed but it had witnessed some eminent events which will always be written in the pages of history.
