Missile man of India, an indomitable spirit points to one great person. Well, everyone knows it. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the 11th President of India. His full name is Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. He was born on October 15, 1931 in Rameshwaram.

He was awarded with India's three most prominent awards, The Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan.

He attended St. Joseph's college and went on to earn a degree in aeronautical Engineering from the Madras institute of Technology(MIT). After graduating from MIT, Kalam took up the position of chief scientist at DRDO. He then shifted to ISRO. Kalam turned out be successful each time. He was the Project director of SLV-3, India's first indigenously designed and produced satellite launch vehicle.
Rejoining DRDO in 1982, Kalam produced a number of missiles that earned him the nickname, Missile man of India.

Kalam was elected by The Hindu nationalist NDA. Both INC and BJP supported Kalam. He easily won the election as the 11th President of India

Kalam wrote several books including his autobiography, Wings of fire. He also wrote numerous books like India's 2020, Mission India etc.

Kalam was an average student i school but had a strong desire to learn more about the world. This enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge stayed with him his entire life.

Kalam would begin his day at 4. Kalam used kerosene lamps when there was no electricity. He would study till 11 p.m. It was this perseverance that made an average student a successful scientist. 

At a students' convocation at IIT Varanasi, Kalam was invited as Chief guest. He refused to sit in the chair offered to him as it was bigger than the other chairs. He offered it to the Vice-Chancellor.

APJ Abdul Kalam has given all his life savings and earnings to a trust called PURA.

Kalam dreamt of seeing India having sophisticated satellite programs, missiles and nuclear science powers. He was a good leader too. In his last moments too, he was addressing students at IIM, Shillong.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is a famous name in the whole world. He is counted among the greatest scientists of the 21st century. Even more, he becomes the 11th president of India and served his country. He was the most valued person of the country as his contribution as a scientistand as a president is beyond compare. Apart from that, his contribution to the ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) is remarkable. He headed many projects that contributed to the society also he was the one who helped in the development of Agni and Prithvi missiles. For his involvement in the Nuclear power in India, he was known as “Missile Man of India”. And due to his contribution to the country, the government awarded him with the highest civilian award.

Career and Contribution of APJ Abdul Kalam

APJ Abdul Kalam was born in Tamil Nadu. At that time the financial condition of his family was poor so from an early age he started supporting his family financially. But he never gave up education. Along with supporting his family he continued his studies and completed graduation. Above all, he was a member of the Pokhran nuclear test conducted in 1998.

There is a countless contribution of Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam to the country but he was most famous for his greatest contribution that is the development of missiles that goes by the name Agni and Prithvi.
