Essay on caste system in today's india 2016
Answers
For centuries, caste dictated almost every aspect of Hindu religious and social life, with each group occupying a specific place in this complex hierarchy.
Rural communities were long arranged on the basis of castes - the upper and lower castes almost always lived in segregated colonies, the water wells were not shared, Brahmins would not accept food or drink from the Shudras, and one could marry only within one's caste.
Caste System is not a fair system in the present scenerio. It is negatively effecting the Indian society. The system has become totally irrelevant today. Under present conditions the rigidity of castes caused much oppression and injustice to the weaker sections of society. The system has become loose and totally disorganized and should be relegated to the status of a relic from a by-gone age, which cannot be preserved anymore.
We can conclude that the caste system has a negative impact on Indian society.
I hope this helps uh ! : )
Answer:
The caste system in India has been practiced since ancient times and its concept has been developed in different ways over the centuries by the people in power. Major changes were made in this system, especially during the Mughal rule and the British Raj. Despite this, even today people are treated differently in society on the basis of their castes. Varna and caste are basically two different concepts of social system.
The varna refers to four broad social divisions – Brahmins (teachers / priests), Kshatriyas (kings / warriors), Vaishyas (merchant classes) and Shudras (laborers / servants) but gradually it went into a state of further decline. Divided into castes on the basis of birth. Caste was generally determined according to the trade or community of the people, but today it has become hereditary.
