Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel was one of the prominent leaders of his time. He was actively involved in India’s freedom struggle. Patel was deeply influenced by the Gandhian ideologies and followed the path of non-violence. He supported various freedom movements including the Non-Cooperation Movement, Satyagrah Movement and Civil Disobedience Movement. He did not only participate in these movements but also brought large number of people together to participate in the same.
He went around India with Mahatma Gandhi and helped collect more than 1.5 million and recruit 300,000 members. He was known for his hard working nature ever since he was a child. During childhood, he toiled the land with his father who was a farmer. He worked hard to attain the law degree and studied dedicatedly to become a barrister. His hard work and dedication towards freeing the country from the clutches of the British government was also quite evident. He gave his heart and soul for the cause. He worked in association with various Congress Party officials to further this aim.
He was given the title of Sardar because of the impeccable leadership qualities he possessed. He was indeed one of the most popular leaders. A number of monuments and institutes have been built in his memory. These include the Sardar Patel University, Gujarat, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, New Delhi, Sardar Vallabh Bhai National Institute of Technology, Surat, Sardar Patel Memorial Trust, Sardar Sarovar Dam, Gujarat and Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad.

✅The statue has been built at a cost of about 2,400 crore rupees. Approximately 70,000 tons of cement in addition to 18,500 tons of reinforcement steel and 6000 tons of structural steel has been used to build the statue. 1700 metric tons of bronze has also been used.
It was built by famous Indian scupltor Ram Sutar.
Near the statue, Mr Modi unveiled the ‘Wall of Unity’ which has been created with the earth samples collected from various states across the country.
As part of the effort to make the region around the statue a tourist spot, many projects like Valley of Flowers and Tent City have been developed.

✅In 1917, Sardar Vallabhbhai was elected as the Secretary of the Gujarat Sabha, the Gujarat wing of the Indian National Congress. In 1918, he led a massive “No Tax Campaign” that made the problem solving of the farmers not to pay taxes after the British insisted on tax after the floods in Kaira.
The peaceful movement forced the British authorities to return the land taken away from the farmers. His effort to bring together the farmers of his area brought him the title of ‘Sardar’........
