Hey Buddy!
Firstly define encironment, then later move on to its surroundings, the effects of surrounding.merits, demerits etc
You can see how i have written....

The sum total of all surroundings of a living organism, including natural forces and other living things, which provide conditions for development and growth as well as of danger and damage is termed as the environment.
As you know, the surroundings are gifted by the nature to nourish the life on the earth and so is referred to the three isystems:- the Atmosphere, the Hydrosphere and the Lithosphere.
There are several ways in which our environment has caused danger like environmental pollution!
Environmental pollution refers to the introduction of harmful pollutants into the environment.
Everyday we go through several places where the waste isnt disposed of properly etc. This is called as the environmental degradation. Now this happens because of depletion of resources such as air, water, soi or land etc.
Water and air pollution are unfortunately the common causes of environmental degradation. Pollution introduces contaminants into the environment that can maim or even kill plant and animal species.
Another reason is  Deforestation! It is the cutting down of trees to make way for more homes and industries.Rapid growth in population and urban sprawl are two of the major causes of deforestation.
In such busy, crowded and advanced life we must take care of such types of small bad habits on daily basis. It is true that only a small effort by the end of everyone can bring a major positive change towards our declining environment. We should not use the natural resources in wrong ways for just our selfishness and fulfil our destructive wishes. We should grow and develop science and technologies for the betterment of our lives but always be sure that it would not ruin our environment in future in anyways. We should be sure that new technologies would never disturb the ecological balance
