The Fit India movement is a nationwide movement in India that encourages people to stay healthy and fit by incorporating physical activities and sports into their daily lives. It was launched by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi. Narendra Modi wants healthy India is my goal.

Fit India Movement may be a public movement conceptualized by the govt of India, with the aim of inspiring its citizens to be more physically active and fit.
The launch event on the National Sports Day, 29th August, had wide media coverage with live broadcasting being shown in many faculties and colleges.
The responsibility of taking the movement to new heights is bestowed on Mr. Kiren Rijiju, Minister of state for Sports (Independent charge). The 28 member government committee will be headed by Rijiju and includes secretaries of sports, youth affairs, Education and several other departments.
Mr. Modi reiterated as he has done on several occasions, that technology has made us lazy and physically inactive as a result obesity, diabetes and other ailments are on rise. He also said that a lot of countries have already realized the necessity to remain fit and have already started programs like this.
Modi added that one possesses to be slot in order to be successful; all the successful persons that we see are physically fit and active.
He also thanked the young sports personalities of India, who have won laurels for the state and said that they're the longer term representing a more confident, young and fit India.
The scheme tries to deal with the health issues caused thanks to sedentary lifestyle. It conveys a message that inactivity breeds lifestyle diseases like , diabetes, hypertension, cardio-vascular complications, obesity etc and a daily physical activity be it sports or normal walk, will be helpful in staying disease free.
