In Indian Civilisation, the child is believed to be a gift of god to be nurtured with love, care and affection in the family as well as in society. The sons are given preference over daughters. Sons are considered as a blessing. They earn income and are considered to be the caretakers of their parents in old age. A family without son is incomplete and has to undergo social embarrassment Women, on the other hand are pinpointed as a curse and burden. Some people think that to raise a girl child is just a wastage of time and money. In their views, only a man can be the head of the family. Women are here considered as secondary.

This mindset can be changed only by educating the female members of the society and empowering them to take their own decisions regarding education, marriage and their career. This will enable them to be independent and therefore will enhance the progress of the society as well as our nation.

Gender germination is when there are unfair rights between male and female. It differs because of the gender rules with ultimately leads to unequal treatment in life. Gender discrimination has been round for many centuries. However, as we are evolving, it is time to do away with such motions of gender roles.

There many causes of gender discrimination. The first one has to be illiteracy. When people do not educate themselves, they continue to live in the old times. Thus, follow the old age tradition and norms. Education bring about a change in this mind set because educated people will less likely partake in gender discrimination. Further, poverty also another reason which is interlinked in a way.

It is the root cause in many places because the economic dependency remains on the male counterparts mostly. Thus, women suffered a lot from it because of the same reason. They get out of this and stay financially dependent on men. Furthermore, the patriarchal setup in our society plays a big role. In this set up, dominates almost every aspect of life. Thus consider themselves to be superior to others. This way a lot of violence in injustice is meted out against females. Thus, is a gender considering themselves to be superior it becomes difficult for everyone to avail equal opportunities.

Gender discrimination must be checked at every stage so that no person should be denied a chance to learn and grow. Thus, everyone no matter male or female must get a start in life in terms of education and other opportunities. We must come together as a society to do this.
