Answer: The 6th century BC saw the birth of a potent religious movement in India, Buddhism. Its founder, Gautama Buddha (original name siddhartha)  was a kshatriya prince of the Sakya clan. His father, Suddodhana was the chief od Kapilavastu's Sakya clan. Legend has it that Gautama Buddha was born in 563 BC in Lumbini village near Kapilavastu situated in the foothills of Nepal. Gautama showed scare interest in worldly affairs and the formalities of court life. He was married to Yashodhara, a beautiful princess and bore a son, Rahul. He left this world at the age of 80 at Kusinagar in the district of Gorakhpur in 483 BC.
