Heritage means what we have inherited from our ancestors of past. They have passed on many cultures and assets to us generation to generation. Thus land and people are two parts of this components.India is also a home for different 'races','castes',also ethnics which have contributed to us for we have today, they are part of the culture and our history. They re the reason we have many different civilisations and cultures. We also learn lot from their cultures as they have got intermixed and integrated with the pre-existing traditions.
India's culture has been changing and developing due to so many factors and contact with other cultures. The Harappan culture was the first to emerge in India.
Jainism and Buddhism also left an lasting impression on the Indian culture, beliefs and practices. But later the fall of Buddhism and rise of Hinduism led to the construction of temples and worshipping the idols in South India ,Deccan plateau and also in North India. And with the rule of the Mughals rose Muslims another religion.Later cme Sikhism based on the teachings on Gurunanak .
The philosophy and art emerged from the time of Chola King, also during the Delhi sultnates where the growth of modern languages and architecture and sculpture linguistic. Arbic and Persian became  part of our languages.
Then came our independence and all of the different cultures got a place to stay in the country with  style of 'Unity In Diversity' we live happily even though we have many differences amongst us.

 Hope This Helps...

                                               Our Heritage

Frankly, I am disgusted with the attitude of the public towards historical monuments Not only they do not love them, they seem to be ready to destroy them. The builders want to claim their land. The visitors despoil them by disfiguring them. They throw polythene bags and eatables in the lawns. They have no respect at all for the monuments. Let us remember that these monuments are our historical heritage. They remind us of our ancient or glorious past. Many monuments are so artistic that the modern sculptors are thrilled to see their beauty. Only very dedicated people must have made them. Just think of the Elephanta Caves. It is difficult to imagine how a single person created that supreme beauty since these monuments are a proof of our glorious past, it is our duty to preserve them.
