You learn more from failure than from success. Don’t let it stop you. Failure builds character.” If someone would have asked me a year ago what the definition of motivation is, I wouldn’t have the answer because I didn’t know. I grew up as a child in south Philadelphia where children used what they saw in music videos to motivate themselves to look good and that was it to motivation and for me as well. I know it does not make sense, even as I type I am confused at how I could be so shallow but that was the reality in my neighborhood. Three beautiful children of my own, a fiancé whom I call my husband and receiving a college education have definitely made me change my meaning of the word motivation. I look back and think if I would have been in class learning like any normal child I could have gotten good grades and the real meaning of the word motivation. Despite of all the hard work and obstacles as a college student, I define motivation to be something we eat, sleep, and live out with practice, planning, and dedication for self-satisfaction.

First, working hard and practicing daily in my academics with tutoring and studying are key factors in college motivating me. For instance: growing up as a child in elementary and middle school I had trouble getting good grades and had trouble concentrating on anything that wasn’t hands on learning.
