Explanation:

When I was a young girl I loved wedding parties. Whenever I went to a wedding I always wished that my older sister would marry and I thought about what her wedding would be like. So when she married on August 11, 2014 it was a happy night for all of my family and me. I want that night to happen all over again.

The day before the wedding I spent all day with my sister. She is 21 now, and I am 15. She was marrying my aunt’s son so we knew him well as he was always coming to our house. He is 22 and they were both happy and I think they love each other. We talked about our lives and told jokes. That night all the girls came to our house and I did their henna for them, the holiday tradition where you draw in red henna on everyone’s hands and feet.

On the morning of the wedding my sisters and all the girls went to the beauty parlor. The wedding was in the evening at one of the huge new wedding halls in Kabul with about 400 people. I was the bride’s sister and some other girls came with me so we were the first people there to say hi to the guests.

At my sister’s wedding I wore four dresses, more than anyone. My first dress was black, my second dress was green, the next one was orange, and my fourth dress was black and white. My sister wore two beautiful dresses, they were green and white.

At the ceremony all the music was Afghan songs. We had many different meals, with three kinds of rice. Traditionally men cook the food when the wedding is at home, but my sister’s wedding wasn’t at home. All the groom’s family and other people were dancing and happy. There are so many special traditions and at the end they cut a cake.

At my sister’s wedding there were a lot of people and they were different from each other, but were showing that they love each other very much. I was so happy because it was my first sister’s wedding and so much fun. I think all Afghan weddings are fun and loving times for all of the family.
