Narendra Damodardas Modi (born 17 September 1950) is an Indian politician. He is the current Prime Minister of India serving since 2014. He was the 14th Chief Minister of the state of Gujarat.[2] Modi was elected Prime Minister of India in May 2014.[3] He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) He is a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

As a child, Modi used to help his Father, who ran a tea stall at Vadnagar railway station. Later, he and his brother ran a tea stall of their own at a bus terminus. [4][5]

Full name of 'Narendra Modi' is Narendra Damodardas Modi. He was born on 17 September 1950 in Vadnagar, Mehsana district, Bombay State (present day Gujarat). His father's name was Damodardas Mool Chand Modi and mother's name was Hiraben. He was born into a middle class family. At the age of 13, he was engaged with jasoda Ben Chaman Lal and when they were married, he was just 17.

In 1987, Narendra Modi entered into the main political stream by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)Under his leadership, the BJP gained phenomenal success in the 2014 elections. On May 26, 2014, Narendra Modi was sworn in as India's 15th prime minister.

He has keen interest in science and technology. He is realistic as well as idealistic. He is full of optimism. He is best known for rising from humble beginnings to become prime minister of India. He will be always remembered as a successful politician and poet.
