                    Reservation system

We are all from the same nation. We are all having equal rights and the opportunity to get an education and job. Then, why there are caste and gender differences? Nowadays we can see India is suffering from the reservation system especially general category people and it is damaging our education system.

Do we really need a reservation system to become successful?  Today in our article we are going to discuss the reservation system in India. This article will help you to write an essay, to give a speech in school and college competition.

Reservation is a supportive action taken by the government for fixed quotas, where some seats in private and government institutes are reserved for socially and educationally backward communities, scheduled castes, and tribes. The reservation system comes into the picture since the independence of our country.

Leaders like Rajarshee Shahu Maharaj, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar took initiatives to help backward class people. They started giving free education to them. The main intention of reservation is to improve conditions of backward castes and community people. But some say the effect of reservation has been severe and damaging.

In quota systems, seats are reserved under caste differences, gender differences, and religious differences. “Unity In diversity”, we all have heard this phrase from our childhood.  If there is unity then there should be equality but where is the unity seen if there are still caste and gender differences. Instead of uniting we are segmenting it. In India most of the scholarships are available for SC, ST, NT, OBC, Women’s and other minority classes.

So, as per our quota system, these people who fall under these categories will be primary beneficiaries. Even if the student has fewer marks he will get an advantage of this policy. That’s why a student from the general category and with good marks will not get the benefit of this.

Though this system is useful for minority and backward class people. But not every minority or backward people are from the poor financial background and not every general category people are from a good financial background. It may happen that student from lower caste but the strong financial background will easily get admission but that student may just be taking advantage of the scheme in actual they are not really interested in studying but they get first preference. Whereas student from the general category but with the poor financial background will not get admission in institutes.

For taking and advantages of this scheme people make fake certificates and then submit them to schools and colleges. So, at the time of admission even if it is a merit-based student with fewer marks and lower caste will easily get the admission into the college than general category student with more marks and in such cases, the student feels discouraged, depressed, frustrated and lead to a suicide attempt.

A student who genuinely wants to study will always lag behind will not get a chance to improve themselves because of this reservation system. When students don’t get admission in good schools or colleges they relocate to other countries and in another country, they get a better opportunity to improve themselves and then they leave the country and settle in abroad.

In recent years a lot of changes have made in the reservation system. Backward categories like SC, ST, and NT get more benefits than OBC and general category people. There is a separate quota for women and handicapped people. There is a 50% reservation granted for minority people in some colleges. So when you go to such college to take admission and you will have to pay a huge amount of fees then only you will get admission.

The reservation system is only beneficial for backward community people. Instead of providing reservation to backward class people government should check their financial condition and accordingly the eligibility criteria should be decided. So that everyone will get equal opportunity.

          Essay on reservation system

Reservation is a special right for those people who are being exploited. Reservation was needed for everyone to live life with equality and freedom. Reservation should be given to the person who is genuinely entitled to it.

Type of Reservation:

Reservation based on caste:

The reservation was given to every class according to its population, and changes were made from time to time. The reservation percentages of different castes were fixed according to their population and time demand.

Reservation for Women:

India passed the 108th amendment to the constitution in 2014 in which women will be given reservations up to thirty-three percent. On March 5, 2016, a bill was approved in which one-third of the legislative assembly and parliament seats were reserved for women.

Reservation in the field of education:

For the country's progress, there was a great need to promote education. For which there was a need to give equal education rights to all. Therefore a separate provision was made in the constitution.

Reservation based on religion:

The people of their respective religions demanded their rights; a separate law was made in the constitution.

Benefits of reservation:

Everyone should get equal rights. No discrimination between high and low castes. Got enough rights to live freely.

Disadvantages of reservation:

Reservation creates discrimination in casteism. This provides a form of hindrance to inter-caste marriages. It affects the ability of a qualified person. A considerable impact is seen on the quality of the enrolled students and workers. Instead of eliminating caste-based perception in society, it works to propagate it. Reservation primarily benefits the backward castes. Due to reservations, even the deserving person has problems in getting the job.

Conclusion:

Reservation is the present need, which cannot limit to caste, religion, and gender. Today economic growth is also a massive basis for reservation. Therefore, besides caste, gender, and religion, financial condition and qualifications should also be considered for getting the reservation. So that everyone's problem can solve equally and everyone can benefit from the reservation in the true sense.
