Being informed, being educated, being knowledgeable and being wise all happen through education.

Education plays a very important role. However, a person with no formal education but with experience can also be wise.

Wisdom it's what it's required for national integration. He will be a man of words and action and not just lip service.

The person will understand different cultures, different languages, different clothing, unity on diversity, though plural religions but ultimately one religion and can also make others understand the importance.

It is not just the nation, but the earth will be a happy place to live in without fear or favour, proof or prejudice and no competition for the basic needs of food, clothing and shelter.

Education helps in getting these insights though not compulsory.

Role of Education in Improving Social and National Integration

Social and national integration is crucial to the creation of a strong, united country, which is an essential precondition for all progress

It has a varied content-economic, social, cultural and political-and its different facets are closely interconnected.

It needs:

1. Confidence in the nation’s future;

2. A continuous rise in the standard of living for the masses and the reduction in unemployment and in the disparities in development between different parts of the country, all of which are essential to promote a sense of equality of opportunity in political, economic and social terms;

3. A deep sense of the values and obligations of citizenship and a growing identification of the people, not with sectional loyalties but with the ‘nation’ as a whole

4. Assurance of good and impartial administration, equal treatment for every citizen, in fact and not merely in law, based on the integrity of the public services; and

In our view, education can should play a very significant role in it by

1. Introducing a common school system of public education;

2. Making social and national service an integral part of education at all stages;

3. Developing all modern Indian languages, and taking necessary steps to enrich Hindi as quickly as possible so that it is able to function effectively as the official language of the Union; and

4. Promoting national consciousness.
