Among all people who help in shaping our lives, who help us gain success in life, a teacher’s role is the most important one. We don’t realise this during our school or university days, but, it’s only after those precious years have passed, do we realise that whatever was they taught, maybe it was strict on the face but, it has a deeper intended meaning which currently is helping us walk the path of life.A teacher in one sense is a normal common mortal like you and me. What he does makes him rise among the common and makes him and his teachings immortal. He works every ounce of his energy and soul to get the smallest granule of information past all levels of students and what he consistently emits are the rays of immense love, care and affection.

For a teacher, teaching is not merely a job. It’s a compassionate and task that asks him to pour his heart out in front of his students. A teacher should therefore treat his students like his own children. Still, there is a very thin line between being friendly and becoming over-friendly. A teacher has to conduct himself in such a manner that he is able to reflect the dignity of his age, experience and maturity. A certain level of distance is always healthy and this distance creates a bond of respect between a teacher and a student.
Every person’s objective as a teacher is to get his concepts past his students in such a manner that first, they should be able to remember those concepts for the rest of their lives and second, each concept should get past even to a student who does not have a very sharp grasping power. A teacher should train himself in such a manner, that on all the fronts, whether behavioural or technical, he himself is so confident that he has absolutely no hassles in explaining.
Making the students learn the concepts by hard does not mean that a teacher should spoon feed his students or make the cram the concepts. He should inculcate in them the habit of seeking answers and extracting the deep-rooted meaning behind the concepts. A teacher should always teach a student by getting into his shoes while not making the student completely dependent on him.
It is further the responsibility of a student to first, be attentive to what the teacher is teaching. He should practice the concepts taught by a teacher to an extent that he should not find any difficulties in passing the knowledge around to people who are need. A student should also have a sense of gratitude for his teachers for they have moulded him into a person who can face life’s challenges independently.
