skin grafting, or the transplanting of skin and other underlying tissues types to another location has been used for almost three thousand years. it originally began with the HINDU Tilemaker Caste SYSTEM where skin grafting was used to reconstruct noses that had been amputated as punishment.Overtime it evolved and in this contemporary age we posses two major means by which  to transplant skin:split thickness skin grafting and full thickness skin grafting.
it is important that one gets not just film stars and others to endorse donation ,but religious figures are also roped in well.the state goverment must make an effort to up the number of affordable and specialised burns care centre.More clarity and awarness  about skin donation plus grater expertise and facilities in treatment for burns patients are two vital factors in a country not just skin but organ donation itself is still in the nascent stage...........

1 .Living skin donation has the following features:-

The donor has to undergo investigations for preoperative evaluation a surgical procedure under suitable anesthesia for harvest of graft hospitalization is required for at least 2 days donor site healing time of about 10-14 days Postoperative wound site pain. Only 15 to 20% of total boy surface can be harvested at a time. The other alternative is to procure split thickness skin grafts from a cadaver donor and preserve them for use in future.
