In India, Teacher's day is celebrated on 5th september as a tribute to the contribution made by teachers towards the community.Since 1962 the day commemorates the birthday of Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakhrishnan. a great teacher and a staunch believer of education.According to Dr.Radhakhrishnan,'''Teachers should be the best minds of the country''.His birthday came to be celebrated as Teachers Day when some of his students requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday on 5th september. Dr.radhakhrishnan said ''instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it would be my proud privilege if september 5th was observed as teachers day''. Since then september 5th was observed as Teachers Day throughout the India. Dr. Sarvapalli RadhaKrishnan , our second President was a successful teacher, a leader , thinker and a philosopher. He spent 40 years of life as a teacher. Because of his love towards teaching and his knowledge, his birthday, 5th September is celebrated as Teacher's day in India.
India is known for its education in the whole world since olden days. In olden days, education was given in gurukuls. A student used to learn subjects like Vedas, upnishads , about weapons, social science economies, and politics in ashrams. A teacher was always present to answer questions and clarify doubts of his disciples.
A teacher removes bad Qualities of student and improves the character. A teacher plays an important role of guiding the society.
Hence, a teacher is respectable as god. They try to inculcate good habits in students. They carry out the responsibility of converting children into a good citizen.
Thus, it's our duty to honour the teachers and pay respect to them.
