We packed our luggage and got ready for the journey. We went to Coimbatore by train. The railway journey was rather tiresome. From Coimbatore we went to Ooty by bus. We reached there in the afternoon and put up at a hotel.
Ooty is one of the best hill-station of India. It may be called the queen of hill-station. It has many beauty spots. Next day, after breakfast, we were crowded with tourists form different parts of the country. People were making all sorts of purchases.
After lunch we went to botanical gardens. We enjoyed the expense of horticultural beauty around our heart’s content.
Niligiris has a healthy climate. It is a beautiful summer resort. The mountain slopes are covered with tall, green trees which present a caring sight at sunset and look very grand. The morning and evening hours are very pleasant. A cool breeze sets up and refreshes the mind. It makes one forget the oppressive heat of the plains.
I felt happy in the company of nature. The bright hued flowers, the clouds sailing across the sky and the snow covered peaks of the high mountains in the distance filled my heart with joy.
We stayed there for fortnight. I returned to Chennai reluctantly. The memory of my visit to Niligiris is still fresh in my mind.

Narrate your experience of Skiing...
There is a first time for everything. Some first time experiences aren't so important while others we will never forget. One first time experience I will never forget is the first time I went skiing. I remember being lifted on the ski lift chair. The memory of being on top of the high hill with the feeling I am going to puke will be with me forever. The most memorable moment of this whole experience will be the first time I went speeding down the hill and thinking I am going to hit a tree and die!
I felt myself being lifted on to the ski lift chair with the most excited feeling I have ever had. As the chair goes up I see this beautiful view of people coming down this huge hill with their big coats and these trees right ahead of them. This was my first time in Lake Tahoe and my first time skiing. I am in a sled-like ski chair called a bi-ski. It has two has two skis on the bottom, and two small skis attached to the side, which are kind of like training wheels.
I remember reaching the top of the hill with a very excited feeling. As I got to the top, the instructor at the top helped me off the chair. I waited for the other instructor to explain how I control my movements. While he was talking, all I thought about was hitting a tree and embarrassing myself. He told me to lean whichever way I wanted to steer. After he finished explaining, I just went down that big hill of snow.
I am so excited and scared at the same time, speeding down the hill so fast that I think I might just lose control and hit a tree. All I hear is the wind roaring in my ears. I see a tree in front of me and lean to left and miss it by a hair! Zigzagging to the left and to right helps me slow down. As I slow down towards the ground, I see my parents waiting for me. They stood there holding one another with very worried looks on their faces. After I finally reached the ground, my parents held out their arms for me. I ran to them with the cheesiest look on my face. I asked my parents if they wanted to try, but they insisted they just watch me.
This may have been the most enjoyable day of my life. It was thrilling controlling the bi-ski and going so fast. I was starting to get better and better at steering as I went on. I couldn't wait until the next day because I was going to ski on the advanced runs. After this wonderful experience, I knew I was going to come back next year and the year after!
